Observances through the year
Beyond the festivals above, devotional life follows a rhythm of sacred days set by the Vaishnava lunar calendar. Their dates shift each year — we announce them at the temple and in our newsletter.
Ekadasi
Twice each lunar month, devotees observe Ekadasi — a day of increased chanting and remembrance, when we abstain from grains and beans and turn the mind more fully to Krishna.
Appearance & disappearance days
We honour the appearance and disappearance days of Krishna's incarnations and of the great teachers (acharyas) of our line — with special worship, readings and often a feast.
Kartik (Damodara month)
The holy month of Kartik, when we offer ghee lamps to Lord Damodara (Krishna) each evening — one of the most joyful and tender observances of the year.
Caturmasya
The four months of the rainy season, when many devotees take up extra vows of austerity and service to deepen their practice.
Want the current dates? Ask us or subscribe to the newsletter, and we'll keep you posted on Ekadasi and every festival.
